Mottle is an issue in gravure printing that causes an uneven, patchy, or blotchy appearance in the printed image.

Ink Issues

C: Ink that is too thin (low viscosity) can spread unevenly

S: Increase the viscosity for proper flow and transfer

C: High viscosity ink has slower leveling

S: Reduce ink viscosity for proper flow and transfer

C: Surface tension of the ink does not match with the substrate

S: Reduce the surface tension of the ink, or treat the substrate

C: Ink is not stable (solvent not compatible with resin)

S: Reformulate ink
